* New Health Board Initiative – Signposting Service

As of November 2018, The Mirin Medical Practice will be adopting a Signposting Service, which will be operated by our trained staff.

We have provided training for our staff to ask appropriate questions in relation to your call in order that they can allocate you to the most suitable clinician or alternative service.

These staff members are NOT prying; they are working under the GP instructions and are bound by the same code of confidentiality as the clinical staff.

For example, if you have an eye problem you may be signposted to an optician, if you have a mouth problem you may be signposted to a dentist, or you may be signposted to a pharmacy.

Please help our staff to help you.

* Patient Consent

In Scotland, under the GDPR Guidelines, a young person who has reached the age of 12 can be deemed competent to provide consent on his or her own behalf and exercise their own data subject rights

It is important to us that our younger patients know their rights regarding their own medical records. In the coming months the surgery will be contacting patients aged 12-16 with the option to grant consent for his or her parent/guardian to access personal health information on their behalf
